January 1 will be the end of an era for WWE, as that is the day that the WWE Network will cease to exist. WWE Network launched in 2014 as a standalone streaming service that cost WWE fans $9.99 per month. It not only gave subscribers access to a vast library of classic WWE programming, but it also featured live events like WrestleMania and original programming.
WWE Network was the home of WWE streaming content for years, but that changed for those in the US in 2021 when WWE inked a new deal with Peacock. The deal saw the WWE Network shut down in the US and much of its content transferred to Peacock. Those elsewhere in the world have retained access to the WWE Network, but that will be coming to an end on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

January 6 Will Be a Sad Day for WWE 2K Fans
Monday, January 6, 2025 is going to be a sad day for fans of the WWE 2K wrestling game franchise.

On January 1, 2025, WWE's new deal with streaming giant Netflix will go into effect. From that day forward, those outside the US will have to sign up for Netflix to get their WWE fix, as it will become the home to classic episodes of Monday Night Raw, SmackDown, and NXT in their area. It will also feature "top moments" from the brand, not to mention "historic PLEs" and "select programming." That same day, the WWE Network will cease to exist for many users, though some countries will maintain access beyond the January 1 date. Even so, it won't be too long before the WWE Network is completely gone and fans will have to sign up for Netflix instead.

Things will look a little different for WWE fans in the US. For now, Peacock will retain access to most WWE content, while Netflix will be the new home of Monday Night Raw. Raw will start airing on Netflix beginning January 6, with a super-stacked premiere episode that will feature John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Bianca Belair with a guest appearance by Travis Scott. When WWE's deal with Peacock runs out, it's assumed that a similar migration will happen and all the WWE content currently on Peacock will make its way to Netflix.
While some fans will no doubt be happy to see WWE content come to Netflix, as it potentially equates to being signed up for fewer subscription services, there are those who may be sad to see the WWE Network go. After all, the WWE Network was groundbreaking at the time of its launch, and it dramatically changed the face of WWE for years. It's the end of an era for sure, but there are many who are excited to see what WWE will accomplish in its Netflix Era starting next year.
